A new Spitalfields popup sees a former City worker do just what so many of probably fancy doing - opening a restaurant based on the food in our favourite holiday destination.
Monsieur Le Duck is the result of London Richard Humphreys' many trips to Gascony. Loving the place (and its food and wine) so much, Richard decided to jack in his job and open a restaurant around the corner from his old office.
The restaurant, which is popping up at this spot until May next year, is keeping it simple - focusing on duck, chips, salad and wine. The duck will be cooked one of three ways: Confit Duck Leg, Duck Magret Breast or Duck Burger served with chips and a mixed leaf salad. There'll also be a selection of typical regional sides with a modern twist and a range of classic French desserts, such as crème brûlée.
Running the show front of house will be George Ryan, who you might recognise from previous stints at Village East, Railhouse Café and Burger & Lobster.
Sticking with the Gascon theme, the drinks list will be focused on wines from South-West France, Armagnac based aperitifs and French beers. It all sounds just the thing to perk up your spirits on a cold winter's day.
