Ever dreamt of making your own Dishoom-style bacon naan roll at home? Well from next September you can get your hands on the official recipe, with the launch of the restaurant group’s first cookbook, Dishoom: From Bombay with Love.
Those hangover-busting breakfast naan rolls will be just a handful of the 100 recipes that make up the book which, similar to the restaurants themselves, have been inspired by the the food, history, and culture of Bombay, and the Irani cafes that were once commonplace there. Alongside the recipes the book will act as an exploration of Bombay, with historical landmarks, street stalls and little cafes.
Written by Dishoom’s co-founders, Shamil and Kavi Thakrar, alongside Executive Chef Naved Nasir, the book has ten chapters starting with breakfast (where else?) and ends with Dinner and Nightcaps. Among the other Dishoom classics we can expect to find recipes for are: Okra Fries, Pau Bhaji, Lamb Raan, Prawns Koliwada, Jackfruit Biryani, Butter Garlic Crab, and Pistachio Kulfi, plus drinks such as Mango Lassi, East India Gimlet, and House Chai.
Being one of London’s most beloved restaurants, this is sure to be a very popular one when it comes out – frankly, we’re wondering what’s taken them so long!
Dishoom: From Bombay With Love is published by Bloomsbury 5 September 2019
