What: Flat Iron
In a nutshell: Great value steak in King's Cross
Summing it all up: Flat Iron have an avid following around town, with their signature flat iron steaks being one of the best deals in town. This sees them opening in King's Cross.
The low-down
This is the latest outpost of the much-loved steak restaurant Flat Iron. If you haven't come across them yet, they're best known for having a great deal on the flat iron cut of steak - that and salad comes to a tenner. Alongside that are special cuts if you want to push the boat out just a bit.
The King's Cross outpost of Flat Iron (taking over the spot where TED used to be - it'll seat 110 people) will once again focus on the feather blade of the animal (aka the flat iron). More specialist cuts will include the underblade fillet, tri-tip and rump cap, all from Flat Iron’s own Yorkshire herd of rare and native breed cattle.
And there are some special additions to the King's Cross branch. You'll still have the beef dripping chips but we've really got our eye on the new Wagyu Fries - which are cooked in wagyu fat. We'll have ten servings of those, please.
And they'll be serving up their own ice cream for the first time all created from scratch at the ice-cream bar. So they'll be pouring the fresh custard onto a "supercooled slab" which is them chopped up with paddles. We've had this type of ice cream before and it's pretty special. You'll be able to customise it with toppings that include Madagascan vanilla Chantilly cream, Italian wild Amarena cherry syrup and Congolese Cru Virunga chocolate.
All that and DIY Bloody Mary boxes that can be ordered for your table. So that's a full night out planned then.
