What: Canard
In a nutshell: Francophile street food in Tooting
Summing it all up: Burgers and poutine are given a classic French treatment at this Francophile street traders third London opening in Tooting Market.
The low-down
If the combo of classic French food given a street style twist hits your sweet spot, then you should look out for the new Canard which opens this month in Tooting.
The brainchild of Francophile supperclub hosts turned street traders Hugo Worsley and Jacob Cooper, Canard takes street food dishes and refines them using classic French cooking techniques. So they do burgers, but theirs sound next level.
There's The Canard Burger with crispy confit duck, fig jam, rocket and mustard mayo on brioche. Or maybe you'd fancy The Frenchie Burger with a British beef patty, cantal cheese, lettuce, pickles, ketchup and smokey mayo. Here at Hot Dinners we love a bit of poutine and Canard's Dirty Duck Poutine features rosemary and paprika duck fat chips, cheddar curds, gravy, crispy duck, pickled cucumbers and duck (quackling) crackling. There's also a Croque Monsieur on sourdough with leek béchamel and garlic butter.
They already have spots at Peckham Levels and The Pergola in Paddington, and Tooting Market will be their third space.
