BOB's Lobster Wine Bar and Kitchen is opening at London Bridge

Bob's Lobster are opening at London Bridge

6/6/18 - Updated with first interior picture

What: BOB's Lobster

In a nutshell: Lobster shack goes permanent.

Summing it all up: BOB's Lobster are the latest to graduate from street food markets to a place they can call their own. They're setting up shop in the arches of the fully revamped London Bridge station. And yes, there will be lobster.

The low-down

BOB's Lobster have been favourites on the street food scene for quite a few years now. Best known for their extremely good lobster rolls, they've been popping up at lots of Street Feast locations across town. And now they're going it alone.

It's all part of the huge revamp of London Bridge station that you might have seen if you've been in the area - completely overhauling the structure. We'll be hearing about lots more restaurants in this area soon - but it looks like Bob's Lobster will be among the first.

As to what they're serving, they have been hosting preview dinners (aka "test kitchens"), where dishes included "Smoked trout, salmon roe & fried ginger", "charred cauliflower with ancho chilli, pickled mushrooms and sunchokes" as well as frito misto with nduja aioli and uni carbonara with Irish sea urchin. Plus bar snacks include "tortilla chips & crispy salmon skins with smoked & whipped cod roe" and crab tortellini too. Expect to see those on the menu as well as:

  • Smoked River Exe Mussels
  • Braised Ox Cheek Dripping Toast
  • Dorset Crab Tortellini
  • Fried Chicken with Caviar Aioli

And the street food signature dishes including Ahi Tuna Tacos, Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese will be appearing too. But most of all, their staples of the lobster and crab rolls will be putting in an appearance with new bite-size versions of the lobster rolls too.

It's also being billed as a "wine bar and kitchen" so hopefully it'll be a handy place to stop in for people in the area too. "We will have a surreal list of epic wine bottles to enhance wine and food combinations," they told Hot Dinners, "all with the support of the wine team from Bedales of Borough. The wine team will be brought to the new site to bring spontaneous wine exploration to the fun, playfulness of BOB's food." They'll have 100 bottles as well as 15 by the glass, with a reserved list of old vintage Rieslings on rotation.

Speaking of fun, the layout of the new place (which will have room for 55 diners) sounds great too - "Our original 1957 VW split screen food truck is coming INSIDE with us." They'll be serving Buck a Shuck from the van - which is their version of an oyster happy hour.
