Joe Allen puts its off-menu burger on the menu for a month-long burger series with guest chefs

For years, the off menu burger at Joe Allen has been one of the worst kept secrets on the London restaurant scene. I mean, it may have been off menu but at any given time you'd easily have found half the tables in the restaurant ordering it.

And for four weeks next month the burger will actually appear on the menu as the Covent Garden restaurant celebrates all things burgers. They've invited four great London chefs and restaurateurs to come up with burger specials too, each of which will go on the menu for a week.

Neil Rankin from Temper will put on a Louisiana-inspired aged beef and oyster po’ boy burger. Next up is Mathew Carver, founder of The Cheese Bar who'll serve up a Cheese Bar Patty Melt, topped with smoked Lincolnshire Poacher, house pickle and sticky onion relish. After Mathew will come Margot Henderson whose burger will feature Swaledale chuck mince on a St John burger bun, roast and raw beetroot, roast red onion, watercress, green sauce and Rochelle ketchup. Last, but not least, Russell Norman will be responsible for a Neapolitan Burger with Buffalo mozzarella, San Marzano tomato and basil.

For one night only, all four burgers will be served at a launch party with the Young & Foodish Burger Club on Monday 11 June. Tickets will cost £25.
