What: Inko Nito

In a nutshell: Zuma's new robatayaki for Soho

Summing it all up: London is getting a new robata grill restaurant from the team at Zuma. Inko Nito on Soho's Broadwick Street will feature Japanese charcoal grilled cooking with a Korean influence.

The low-down

Having opened their newest restaurant Inko Nito in downtown Los Angeles last month, Zuma are now turning to London for the second branch. They'll be opening the new robatayaki in Broadwick Street "soon".

The restaurant - which should have room for around 90 diners - is described as "Japanese charcoal grilled cooking with a Korean influence". And god, the menu really does sound good with dishes for London including:

  • Beef cheek, spicy Korean miso, pickled daikon, butter lettuce
  • Bone marrow, smoked soy, garlic toast, shallot
  • Cobia collar, brown butter ponzu, lemon

Of that beef dish, Food & Wine magazine called it "astoundingly good beef cheek with spicy Korean miso, pickled daikon and butter lettuce. Roll everything up into a lettuce wrap and you’ll have something that evokes bo ssäm, with the beefiness and texture of the tender, fatty cheek popping as much as the bold Korean flavors."

There'll also be nigaki - roasted nori with sushi rice and a choice of toppings like Dungeness crab, avocado, wasabi tobiko and yuzu mayo or aybe fried shrimp with spicy Korean miso and sesame. Dessert is a single dish but we'd still order it - charred coconut soft serve with soy, pocky and Japanese granola.

The drinks list seems pretty short - with a selection of sake, an exclusively Californian wine selection and Japanese beers on offer. Cocktails include a Nori old fashioned and a house spritz made with watermelon, aperol, yuzu and sparkling wine.
