Old Laundry Yard is bringing more food traders to Shepherds Bush Market

London's food market scene continues to boom with the news that Shepherds Bush Market is getting an extension. Old Laundry Yard, which launches next week, mixes a range of street food traders along with a community space for workshops and events.

If you're minded to go down for the launch weekend, they're planning a 1950s-themed celebration with professional jive dancers, 50s roller skaters, stilt walkers and live music from rockabilly band Josie & the Outlaw.

As you might have guessed, the market, which has been constructed in 72 shipping containers, is located on the site of a disused laundry. Local traders there from the launch will include West-African street food stall, Jollof Mama (who'll be doing a 10% discount for opening week) and grilled cheese sandwich and skin on fries trader Pommes Fries. There'll also be a pop up bar courtesy of We-pop.

Coming up you'll also find local resident Maxine Cooks, who'll be serving up all natural vegetarian meals and healthy desserts. Maxine, who lives minutes away from the market, had been working out of her own kitchen for the last few years targeting the lunch time delivery trade.
