In a nutshell: Retro South London bar chain heads up west
Summing it all up: The third opening for Little Nan's on Warren Street will be their biggest yet, giving them the chance to expand beyond the retro cocktail list and bar food to open a restaurant serving up boozy brunches and royal afternoon teas.
The low-down
Popular pop-up turned permanent Deptford cocktail bar Little Nan is heading up West. The retro bar, named after owner Tristan's grandmother, is about to open in Fitzrovia. But this, the third permanent spot for the burgeoning group which also has a space in Catford and is currently popping up in Forest Hill, sounds like it's focusing even more on the food.
Dishes they'll be bringing to the new spot on Warren Street include Aunt Mary’s welsh lamb chops marinated in mustard and mint, baked Queen Mother's Scottish Salmon with white wine and dill, Ian Beal's wholetail scampi with hand cut chips and tartar sauce served in a basket, a Bettie's beef hot pot "the Rovers would be proud of", Fitzrovia pork belly disco fries and Little Nan’s famous ploughman’s featuring home roast ham, cooked in a spiced rum spiked hot mulled apple juice.
"Little Nan lived till the age of 103 years old, her life spanned Six Royal monarchs and a variety of fabulous British food trends. She was the original lover of little plates for big hearts," says Tristan.
Drinks-wise, they'll be serving up cocktails in teapots and vases along with craft beers, wines and seasonal mocktails.
The new West End venue will feature their usual kitsch royal interior and serve up brunches, lunches, afternoon teas and dinners. Oh and there'll also be a downstairs dressing up room.
