A recent trip to The Bridge Theatre (right by Tower Bridge) introduced us to the rather excellent bar they have in the foyer - made all the better due to the fact that all the food is by St John. And now they're stretching out their hours for even more St John goodness at each end of the day.
First, there's breakfast (10-12 Mon to Fri, 10-1pm Sat). For that you can get:
- St John Granola, Pear and Yoghurt - 5.50
- Anchovy Toast with Soft-Boiled Egg - 6.50
- Hash, Egg and Brown Sauce - 7.90
- Pikelets with Marmalade and Butter - 6.00
Plus pastries AND St John doughnuts, which are among the very best in London.
And they're also keeping the kitchen open post-theatre (after the show, last orders 10.15pm). That means you'll be able to get their quite wonderful freshly baked madeleines after the show as well as in the interval (highly, highly recommended). But you can also end the evening with a St John Welsh Rarebit, which sounds like the perfect after-theatre snack. It'll also be a handy place to drop into if you're in the area, even if you're not catching a show.
