What: Sticks ’n Sushi Victoria
In a nutshell: Yakitori, sushi and creative Japanese cuisine from this Danish import.
Summing it all up: Danish-Japanese brothers Jens and Kim Rahbek bring their creative take on traditional Japanese food to Victoria’s Nova development. It’ll be spread across two floors, have a separate bar and a special Wagyu beef tartare sushi - just in case you’re not in the mood for fish.
The low-down
It’s been a little while since we heard any news from Nova, Victoria’s enormous new food and drink development, but we've just found out the latest restaurant to join is Danish yakitori and sushi chain Sticks’n’Sushi.
It'll be their fifth London branch, and it’s going to be a big one, with two open plan dining areas spread across two floors all artfully decked out in Scandi style interior design. Nigiri and yakitori will be the main draws, alongside maki rolls and chirashi bowls. They’re also catering for those that aren’t all that keen on fish but still want all the soy sauce-infused goodness of sushi with a selection of chicken, pork, beef and vegetable skewers. Plus, a fairly unique sounding Wagyu beef tartare.
Aside from nigiri and yakitori, there’s several other menu options we're expecting to see including:
- Scallops in kataifi with miso aïoli, trout roe & cress
- Daikon Yasai with greens, coriander, chilli & wafu
- Sea bass, wafu, kataifi & spring onion
- Beef tataki, smoked cheese, chives, almonds, yuzu-kosho & spicy goma
There’ll also be a standalone bar with cocktails and coffee on offer, and a big private dining room with space for up to 16.
