What: Linden Stores
In a nutshell: Wine shop and restaurant in Highbury.
Summing it all up: Taking over the spot vacated by Prawn on the Lawn, this is a new wine shop and restaurant in Islington - run by half of both Oklava and Boustead & Bidois.
The low-down
Have you been wondering what the plan was with the old Prawn on the Lawn spot when they moved up the road in Islington? Well, wonder no more. Arriving in that is Linden Stores wine shop and restaurant.
And it's got a pretty good pedigree too. It's run by Laura Christie (who is one half of Oklava) and her partner in Chris Boustead, best known as half of Boustead & Bidois (and before that Opera Tavern, Ten Bells and James Cochran.) So we're already expecting very good things indeed (hey, it'll be our local so we're very happy).
As far as the shop side goes, they say to expect "a selection of wines designed to have bottles for a rainy Monday as well as something special for a big celebration with friendly, knowledgeable staff on hand and the opportunity to try before you buy."
And for the restaurant part, it's in the basement with dishes that include:
- A British Cheese Board
- Potted Rabbit with Clementine Jelly
- Smoked Beef Stew with Thyme Dumplings
Plus the blackboard menu will change frequently with market availability, so expect more seasonal dishes too.
