What: Matt Roberts Daily Dose
In a nutshell: Protein-enriched smoothies and energy balls.
Summing it all up: If you’re serious about your supplements, Matt Roberts’ new "protein and wellness cafe" will be high on your hitlist, with its spirulina-packed smoothies, breakfast pots and something they're calling 'cleansing boxes' to fuel you up for your next visit to the gym.
The low-down
London-based fitness king Matt Roberts is making the leap from the gym to the juicer with his first cafe, Matt Roberts Daily Dose.
Given Roberts’ personal training empire (gyms, fitness videos, TV shows, supplements etc) we’re expecting competitive levels of clean eating in his juice-focused Mayfair venue, which will specialise in “high-quality protein-based products” - perfect for those who spend as much time reading the labels as they do digging in.
And the venture is being run in association with, not to mention uses the same name as Daily Dose, London’s largest cold press juice producer, it's no surprise that it's a juice and smoothie-heavy endeavour.
First up, there’ll be several post-workout smoothies with 15g of protein (that’s more than an egg’s worth) in them, using all kinds of ingredients to fill the quota from spirulina to lucuma powder. You can try a Healthy Green with banana kale and spinach, or a Cacao with dates, almond butter and courgette. There’ll also be lots of juices on offer too, including a hangover-friendly Black Lemonade designed for those who’re regretting getting in that final round the night before.
Somewhat futuristically, you’ll also be able to buy a “cleansing box”, to help you achieve “certain health goals.” So for instance, you want better skin, their ‘Roots and Fruits’ box has all the goods to help you lower your blood sugar and reduce inflammation. Or so we’re told.
Apart from the many juices and smoothies on offer, there’ll also be Ozone coffee, snacks, breakfast pots and, yes, those all-important protein balls for you to load up on before you head to your next Yogercise class.
