What: La Tagliata Wine Bar & Italian Kitchen
In a nutshell: Pastas, small plates and local Italian wines.
Summing it all up: Picking up from where Sardo left off, the La Tagliata team are moving into Grafton Way with their traditional Italian cooking, which means masses of tagliatelle, plus a wine bar where you’ll be able to get your hands on 50 different bottles.
The low-down
Spitalfield’s La Tagliata Italian Kitchen is about to get its first sister restaurant when La Tagliata Wine Bar & Italian Kitchen opens in Fitzrovia.
It’ll be setting up in the venue that used to be home to Sardo on Grafton Way, along with a new 25-seater wine bar to keep your thirst quenched with traditional Italian wines.
There’ll be a hefty menu full of classic Italian food, including small plates bucatini all’Amatriciana with cured pork cheek. There’ll also be a chance to try Arrosticini, lamb skewers that are a signature dish of the Abruzzo region, and, if our experience of the locally made ones is anything to go by, will be *the* thing to order with your glass of Pinot.
Also on the menu will be (get out your Google translate):
- Le melanzane alla parmigiana
- I gamberi alla Fra’Diavolo
- Pizza ‘Nduja’ e cime di rapa
Naturally, there’ll be loads of tagliatelle for you to choose from too, including their classic Tuscan-inspired beef version, plus tuna, and chicken.Interestingly, they’ll be paying homage to the departed Sardo taking on the former restaurant’s signature dish, crab linguine.
