What: The Dayrooms Cafe
In a nutshell: Australian sandwiches, brunch and lunch in Holborn
Summing it all up: Just in time for the turn of the seasons comes The Dayrooms Cafe WC1, a new food and drink spot on Theobald's Row that’ll focus on providing the busy souls of the City with healthy, Antipodean-inspired options from coconut waffles, to mac and cheese jaffles.
The low-down
The time-poor in and around Holborn will soon be able to grab a spot of feel good Aussie food and drink to go at The Dayrooms Cafe WC1.
Unlike their original venue over in Notting Hill, this one will be less about long, languorous lunches and brunches, and more focused on loading up busy City workers with weekday sustenance.
That’ll mean freshly baked sourdough sandwiches with stuffings like kimchi, pickled red onion or go for a toasted mac and cheese (listed as a ‘jaffle’, an Aussie word for toastie which we confess, we actually rather like.) If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even try kangaroo.
Outside of sarnies, there’ll be a few other more hearty dishes on the menu for you to try, including:
- Cherry poppyseed coconut waffles
- Confit trout with radish and herbs
- Grilled prawn tostadas
- Sticky sesame chicken
- Burrata-stuffed meatballs
- Poached ginger chicken
Plus, there’ll be salads, smoothies and Ozone Coffee Roasters’ blend to help you stay pumped up for the day.
