What: Wringer & Mangle
In a nutshell: Two storeys of contemporary, seasonal food and drink.
Summing it all up: The first sister restaurant of London Fields’ Wringer & Mangle’s sets up opposite Liverpool Street Station. It’s a sizable venture, with two stories, a bar, a deli, bar snacks and bottomless brunches all on the go - something for everyone, including vegans.
The low-down
Fans of London Fields’ Wringer & Mangle will like this one. After a few years settling into the swing of things out East, they’re moving a touch closer to the City when they launch their first sister venture, in the form of a two-storey bar and restaurant opposite Liverpool Street Station.
Upstairs, it’s all day dining - including Bottomless Brunches - with a focus on all the hearty seasonal food, deli snacks and cocktails you could want. The brunch menu has fry ups with beef dripping toast, tofu breakfast wraps (vegan) or chorizo ones (less vegan), while the Sunday lunch menu has a rake of roasts for you to choose from, just in time for the cooler weather.
Some of the other dishes that stand out from their evening menu include:
- 50-degree cooked salmon, bread sauce, charred gem & piquillo salsa
- Seared Scallops & black pudding, bacon jam, cider vinegar dressing
- Roasted partridge, lentils, smoked mash, cumin carrots & green sauce
- Iced chocolate ‘fossil’, salted peanut caramel, banana salsa (though we’re not totally sure what a ‘fossil’ is)
In addition, there’s a bar snacks menu you can get a whole, glorious camembert for £7.50, and a deli serving lunch options like salads, sandwiches and pastries.
Meanwhile, downstairs will be where you want to go for drinks and a spot of nightlife, with a big central bar offering up out all the craft beers, cocktails and DJs you could need.
