What: Boxcar Butcher & Grill
In a nutshell: Ethical steaks, burgers and meat to go in Marylebone.
Summing it all up: Eat prime cuts of meat sourced from trusted suppliers that've been butchered in house at this new butcher-to-grill restaurant on Marylebone's New Quebec Street, which will also be selling meat to go, and pastries, pies and more via its deli.
The low-down
If you like to know where your meat comes from, the Marylebone’s new Boxcar Butcher & Grill will be right up your street.
There’ll only be three menu items available each day - a sirloin steak, a burger, and, somewhat confusingly, a veggie option - but each one will be lovingly created from prime cuts, sourced from ethically raised meat that’s been butchered in house, on the restaurant’s lower floor. There’ll be a nearby meat hanging room so you can see which cuts are on offer that day, so great for meat lovers, terrible for those who are a touch squeamish about where their beef really comes from.
Alcohol will be similarly unfussy, with a handful of classic cocktails, wine and beers on offer to go with your meal.
As well as the restaurant, there’ll also be a butcher’s selling meat for you to take home, with experts on hand to answer any questions on where it comes from and how cook it. Meanwhile, while the deli will be open from 7am to sell pies, pastries, roasted pork baps, charcuterie, cheeses and more.
