Sood Family pops up with Italian cuisine in Hackney Wick’s Stour Space

Get down to Hackney Wick’s the Stour Space before the summer’s out, and you’ll be able to enjoy an al fresco canalside aperitif and traditional Italian food, thanks to Sood Family’s new residency.

The warehouse pop-up sees the Sood Family getting back to their Puglia roots with traditional Italian cuisine that’s been given a modern twist by Michele, a relatively new chef who’s spent the past two years working under Nuno Mendes at the Chiltern Firehouse.

The menu will change from month to month, but you can expect dishes like:

  • Zampina con patate - Sausage with fennel seeds and black pepper in a spiral shape
  • Orecchiette ai broccoli - Traditional Puglia pasta with cherry tomatoes
  • Bucatini all’amatriciana - Thick spaghetti with crispy pork cheek lard
  • Parmigiana

You can also try the homemade Paccheri al pulpo, large bronze die pasta tubes made Neapolitan artisan pasta maker, Pastificio Gragno. Aside from pasta, there’ll be the option to try other dishes like parmesan, tuna carpaccio and burrata with tomato too, and there’ll be vegan and gluten-free options too.

Ingredients will be seasonal and local where possible, with fish sourced from Billingsgate Market, while meat will come from local butchers or Italy for cured meats that come from selected breeds.

The residency will be running Thursdays to Sundays, with a late opening on Friday and Saturdays.

When: Open now

Where: Stour Space, 7 Roach Rd, London E3 2PA
