Since it opened back in October, Boxpark Croydon has been going from strength to strength. Now it’s set to be the home to YO! Sushi’s newest experiment: reinventing themselves as a pop-up serving up Japanese dishes reimagined with a takeaway twist.
The conveyer-belt sushi chain, calling itself just YO!, will open with a newly expanded menu, including dishes like panko chicken thigh sandwiches, crispy fried chicken, and takoyaki. There’ll also be their ‘Ramen-In-A-Roll’, stuffing all the crucial elements of the noodle soup dish into a bun, minus the soup, including seared pork belly, tonkotsu mayo and crispy noodles. The Chicken Katsu Sando will see panko-crumbed chicken thighs served up in bread, which you can have with their Furikake Fries served with sriracha mayo and spices. Or you can experiment with the Hirata donut, which involves crispy donut pieces in soft serve ice cream and miso caramel.
If you’re in the mood for something (slightly) more traditional then YO! will also be offering Pork Belly Teriyaki, Salmon and Orange Ponzu Tataki, as well as getting a piece of the Poke action with their rainbow bowls, which have sashimi, pickled vegetables and mango. There’ll be new hand rolls to sample too.
While it’s perhaps a bit of a stretch of the imagination to call the menu “a real taste of Japanese culture” (as YO! is billing it...), it’ll doubtlessly be a welcome addition to the ever-growing collection of bars and restaurants at Boxpark Croydon.
When: 27 April
Where: Boxpark Croydon, 99 George St, London CR0 1LD
