Hot gossip for TOWIE fans: it looks like everyone’s favourite Essex lad Lockie had landed himself in prison - but not as you know it. Down in HMP Brixton, the ITV star is taking a quick breather from the tabloid headlines to reimmerse himself once more into the world of food, at The Clink Kitchen, the prison’s social enterprise restaurant.
Gossip mag fodder aside, Lockie, who’s also behind the Lockie’s Kitchen out in his native Romford, will be acting in the role of chef at the Clink, devising a new one-off menu for a special fundraising lunch.
It’s a very affordable affair, priced at £15 a head which includes a non-alcoholic welcome drink and a light, simple menu. Think soup and crusty bread, grilled prawns with avocado and chilli, pasta in a rustic tomato sauce or butterflied chicken breast, and strawberry pancakes with Greek yoghurt for pudding. There’ll be no alcohol involved (it's not allowed at The Clink) but it’s still a very good deal for the price, especially if you find yourself coming over slightly hot and bothered when rubbing shoulders with reality TV stars.
If that’s not really your thing though, you’ll still be able to rest safe in the knowledge that the money raised will go towards funding future projects from The Clink Charity. It’s designed to help inmates get back on their feed and equip them with the necessary skills to make it in the culinary world as trainee chefs and waiters.
It's on 22 March at 12.30 and you can email brixton@theclinkrestaurant.com to book your place. The Clink is at HM Prison Brixton, Jebb Ave, London SW2 5XF. For more, visit their website.
