What: WonderBunz
In a nutshell: Steamed Asian buns with Western-fusion flavours
Summing it all up: A new restaurant with a self-service kiosk will be dishing out Asian-style steamed buns, as well as some more Western fillings like vegetarian curry and even a full English.
The low-down
Asian street food is the inspiration du jour for many new openings at the moment, and WonderBunz is the latest to step up to the plate.
Opening in Hammersmith’s Broadway Shopping Centre, they’ll be selling steamed buns with fillings, similar to or bao, as well as flaky siew pau pies. What makes makes WonderBunz a bit different is that as well as traditional Asian flavours, they’re chancing some typically Western-style fillings. So there’ll be a ‘Full English’ bun, a vegetarian curry and more. If you’re not really feeling the crossover though, worry not - you can opt for the more familiar char siu chicken, or beef rendang. Prices start from £2.40 for one, or £1.80 when buying a few at a time.
Soft opening: Between 12-5pm on 1 March, WonderBunz will give a free bun to every customer who says ‘Friends with Bunafits’ until stocks last.
