The Eagle lands back in Notting Hill

What: The Eagle

In a nutshell: Traditional beer and British-Bavarian pub food in Notting Hill

Summing it all up: Notting Hill’s newest refurbished pub will have unpasteurised beer served straight from the tank, and a menu packed with Bavarian dishes which should go down a treat with the intense flavours of the beer.

The low-down

Bavarian food, with all its salty, rich flavours, goes a treat with beer, which is why it’s great news that you’ll now be able to order some crispy fried pig knuckles and other central European treats at The Eagle, Notting Hill’s newly-refurbed pub.

The Eagle will be serving up tank beer which is unpasteurised, unfiltered, and untouched by light, giving it a fresh-from-the-brewery flavour. They’ll even have their own blend - Truman’s Raw Tank Beer - and you’ll be able to, if you so choose, have the staff keep your own private tankard behind the bar for you to drink from when you visit.

With such strong, beery flavours in mind, the menu, devised by ex-Soho House chef Stan Perry will be a blend of British classics and Bavarian influences which complements what’s on draft nicely. Aside from the aforementioned pig knuckles, there’ll be a smoked trout salad, venison carpaccio, chicken schnitzel and more, with optional beer pairings, should you like.
