Good news for those who love nothing more than getting stuck into a slice of Margherita. Traditional Napoli pizza, with family recipes almost 100 years old, will be landing in Kilburn this spring, thanks to Naples pizza merchant Pizzeria Trianon Vomero. This pizzeria, one of the best in Naples and hence the world, is opening Quartieri to bring heaps of traditional pizza to Kilburn, and all of it made in an ultra-traditional style - right down to how the flour is milled.
There’ll be all the usual starters, like bruschetta, buffalo mozzarella and arancini, which can be followed by either classic pizza toppings from authentic Italian family recipes, or something a bit more out there. Try the lemon Costiera Amalfitana or the Crema di Pistacchio, inspired by the cuisine of modern Naples. If you’re in a group (or just incredibly hungry - no judgement), then you can also order your pizza in ‘cartwheel’ size. If you somehow still have room after all that, then there’ll be sweet pizzas to round things off. Or if you need to go a touch lighter, get an artisan gelato from Gelupo, or a cheese board from Campania.
Thirsty diners will be pleased to know that there’ll be plenty of independent wines imported from the Napoli region, including the restaurant’s house wine made in partnership with a vineyard beneath Vesuvius itself. Meanwhile, Italian craft beer will be well-represented thanks to Birrificio del Ducatto, and there’ll also be an intriguing sparkling wine by the name of Franciacorta - an Italian take on Champagne.
