Islington's LeCoq spreads its wings for rotisserie relaunch

Islington's LeCoq spreads its wings for rotisserie relaunch

Good news for fans of LeCoq’s rotisserie roasted chicken - the Islington brasserie is reinventing itself as a full-time rotisserie restaurant.

Hibernation season is still quite a ways off yet, but for fans of LeCoq it might be time to embrace the elasticated waistband already. Previously only available on Sundays, their golden (spit) roast dinners, including their Sutton Hoo chickens, will soon be available to order all week long.

The relaunch will see their free range chicken headline their new menu, available as a quarter, half or whole portion. It will sit alongside other comforting autumnal delights which will change daily, including shoulder of lamb, crispy pig’s cheeks and wild salmon.

Vegetarians won’t feel left out either - LeCoq’s rotisserie will also be sharing its spits with whole squashes, so you can expect dishes like celeriac with roasted garlic and brown butter. Sides will include freekeh and roast tomato, kohlrabi slaw or creamed chard.

And fear not - their famous rotisserie potatoes, caramelised in the drippings, will still be available. We did say get your big trousers out.

Le Coq launches its new menu on 6 October at 292-294 St Paul’s Road, N1 2LH. There’s a soft launch with 25% off food until 9 October and you can book now. For more, follow LeCoq on Twitter @LeCoqrestaurant.
