Love having your mates over to supper, but hate the washing up/general prep part of it? Then IKEA's new Shoreditch pop-up could be for you. For 15 days the Swedish retailer is putting on a DIY restaurant where you pick out the menu.
The good news is that once you've picked out the dishes to serve, you'll get a head chef to help realise your menu plus a sous chef and maître de to help out. The cleaning up will be done for you and you get to invite up to 19 of your mates along.
The restaurant will be open for brunch, lunch or dinner. You choose your menu from a range of modern sharing dishes. Apparently the ingredients list covers raw foods, seafood, forest specialties such as venison and wild mushrooms, fresh fish from local lakes, rivers and the North Sea and meat, fruit and vegetable produce from surrounding farms. And there'll be a few free glasses of beer, wine or other drinks included too.
Help will be on hand if you want to learn new techniquest too like curing, pickling, smoking, poaching, confit and more.
If you don't fancy the idea of running the restaurant there'll also be a special ‘Food for Thought’ workshop space, hosting master classes by folks like Instagrammers Pixie Turner and Symmetry Breakfast and Great British Bake Off winner Edd Kimber and a shop with all manner of IKEA kitchen products on sale.
