Updated 13/9/16 with drink details
A whole bunch of rum cocktails are coming to Duke Street with the latest from the people behind Opium. Called Burlock (and briefly also Plantation), the basement bar is all based around the 1920s - 40s period of Havana, so expect all the rum you can handle and a colonial style for the place itself. Alongside the rum, there will be cachaça, rhum agricole and mezcal. And apparently, a Havana style barber shop doubles up as a drinking area.
A first look at the cocktail menu sounds - well interesting. Highlights include:
Almond Butter Colada
Coconut Bacardi 8yr. Smith & Cross. Almond Butter (obvs). Pineapple. Coconut water. Sea salt. Stirred.
Rum-Ember the Maine
Mezan XO. Cherry Brandy. Cocchi di Torin. Cornish Pastis. Embers.
Don Voyage
Banks rum. Aged Agricole. House falernum. Pimento Dram. Orange Blossom Water. Blended citrus. Bitters. Beach Combes. Served with a ladle. Suitable for up to 10.
There will be bar snacks too - with everything from edible grasshoppers to Brazilian Cheese Buns, Molasses Glazed Pork Ribs and more.
Burlock is now open at 31 Duke Street, London W1U 1LG - for more, visit their website.
