London's first Croquetas Challenge is happening - and we're judging!

croquetas

We've had the Scotch Egg Challenge and Slider Decider, now London is about to host the first ever Croquetas Challenge. Ember Yard is going to be the venue for the inaugural contest this September and they have an amazing list of restaurants taking part.

Contestants who have already signed up to put their croquetas to the test are Salt Yard, Social Wine & Tapas, José Pizarro, The Modern Pantry, Brindisa Kitchens, Oldroyd, Aqua Nueva, Duende, Copita, Barrica, Camino, Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, Riding House Café and Señor Ceviche.

We're particularly excited because we're going to be on the judging panel! So we hope to see loads of Hot Dinners readers down at the event itself. Also judging are Grace Dent, The Guardian's Bob Granleese, Laura Richards and Joe Warwick. Everyone who comes will get a chance to taste all the croquetas (for a small fee of £15 which also includes a drink).

We're looking forward to trying all manner of cylindrical (or spherical) tidbits from Croquetas de Jamón, to more off-the-wall varieties such as Oxtail with Apricot and Peanut, Aubergine and Goat’s Cheese with Crystallised Acacia Honey or Rosemary and Smoked Eel, Horseradish and Beetroot.

The Croquetas Challenge will be hosted by chef director of Salt Yard Group, Ben Tish and takes place at 6pm on Tuesday 6 September 2016 at Ember Yard, 60 Berwick Street, London W1F 8SU. Book your tickets now on 020 7439 8057 or by emailing info@emberyard.co.uk.
