Bronte restaurant comes to the Strand with a Tom Dixon design

Bronte restaurant comes to the Strand with a Tom Dixon design

6/7/16 - Updated with soft launch details.

There's a new restaurant coming to The Strand, and it's taking over the space once held by The Strand Dining Rooms.

Bronte (the name is a nod to the nearby Lord Nelson, the first Duke Of Bronte) is coming with a Pacific/Antipodean style menu that's created by Andrew Lassetter and delivered by head chef Jonathan Villar. He previously worked under Peter Gordon (best known for the 15-year-old Providores). It'll be open all day - and some of the things to expect from the menus are:

  • Soft-boiled eggs with Marmite and mature Cheddar cheese soldiers
  • Hot smoked salmon with scrambled duck eggs on brioche
  • Wild mushrooms, white miso and truffle on toasted brioche.
  • Rare breed beef burger with chilli miso, quinoa onion rings and baby gem in a brioche bun
  • Grilled sea bass with watermelon, wild garlic, samphire salad and rhubarb ketchup
  • Pomelo grapefruit, dragon fruit, tear drop radish and smoked bulgur wheat dressed with tabouli and tahini yoghurt
  • Roast rare beef with paw paw, cucumber, mint, coriander, bean sprouts, green chilli, peanuts and ground wild rice.

As for the place itself, it's being designed by Tom Dixon (who has been behind the design of Craft and Sea Containers) and they're saying the design will feature "collector’s items" that hint back to the inspiration behind the name of the restaurant. Private diners can have the mezzanine to themselves and they'll also have some outside seating.

Bronte is opening at Grand Buildings, 1-3 Strand, London WC2N 5EJ on 8 July for a soft launch. The launch offer is 50% off food from 8-12 July, lunch and dinner (and breakfast too on 11-12 July). To book email Hello@bronte.co.uk or call 0207 930 8855. For more, follow them on Twitter @bronte_london.
