A new bar is heading Shoreditch-wards, taking over the spot left vacant by Café El Paso. It's coming from Rocket Leisure, best known for Venn Street Records and Northcote Road Records - so yes, there's a theme here folks.
It's a big old space - fitting in 300 across two floors and that record theme will be very evident. There will be shelves filled with record sleeves, band posters on the wall and new vinyl releases can be bought behind the bar. On top of this, expect live music six nights a week. We're promised an "eclectic programme of soul, funk, jazz and rock to classic pop."
As far as the drinks list is concerned, there will be their signature cocktail, Sour Records - a version of a Whiskey Sour that adds pistachio syrup. And there's also Late Breakfast which blends grapefruit vodka with pink grapefruit juice, house-made marmalade syrup, grapefruit bitters and egg white. The cocktails are twists old favourites, like the Peach Negroni and a Smoked Pineapple Punch. And during weeknights, happy hour means 2 for 1 on cocktails up until 8pm.
There WILL be food too - Italian thin-crust pizza is served up with a variety of fresh toppings and dips.
Old Street Records opens at 350-354 Old Street, London EC1V 9NQ on 30 June. For more, follow them on Twitter @OldStRecords.
