The next restaurant to open in the Hackney food hub Here East is a combo meatball and beer joint, Mason and Company. It's a collaboration between Ed Mason, founder of Hackney’s Five Points Brewing Company, and Rachel Jones, founder of street food stall, Capish?.
Yes, there will be lots of beer. Expect 20 draught taps as well as bottled and canned beer, new beer launches, food and beer pairings, ‘Meet The Brewer’ events and more - all showcasing independent breweries. There WILL be more besides, though, with coffee from London roasters Alchemy, natural wines and artisan spirits.
Expect meatballs and more from the Capish kitchen, leading with their Meatball Hero - pork & beef balls, marinara, rocket, provolone cheese on a polenta-crusted sub. But there's more besides that, including:
- Steak Braciole, 45 days dry aged steak, slow-cooked for 6 hours in bone marrow and white wine and stuffed with garlic, parsley, chilli and Pecorino Romano, and served in a buttermilk roll with melting Taleggio cheese.
- Brand new bar snacks including Buffalo Cheese Sticks, Sicilian chickpea fritters with rosemary salt, and Italian Poutine - fries topped with 6-hour short rib ragu and cheese curds.
- Daily specials will include Veal Chop Pizzaiola with vinegar peppers, family style Lasagna, Fried Chicken Cacciatore and Clams Casino
- And finally, desserts will be Tiramisu Doughnuts, house made Gelato and Cannoli.
All this and canalside alfresco seating too.
Mason and Company opens at 7 Canalside, Here East, Hackney Wick, E20 3BS on 17 June 2016. For more, follow them on Twitter @masonandcoeast.
