A Hot Dinners exclusive
Theo Randall's a busy gent. Not only has he just relaunched his restaurant at the Intercontinental in London, but he's also got a new bit on the side. Theo’s Simple Italian is going to be a new casual spot, openng at the Hotel Indigo® London Kensington – Earl’s Court next month.
Randall's brought in a top chef to run the kitchen. William Leoni worked with Theo Randall at the InterContinental and, before that, was at Sartoria. The dishes he and Randall have worked on are going to be familiar to anyone who's had a look at Randall's recent cookery book, My Simple Italian.
The 54 seater restaurant will serve up cicchetti such as grilled Bramata polenta with smashed salt cod and red anchovies and and classic bruschetta with roasted Datterini tomatoes, fresh marjoram and new season olive oil.
Larger dishes include:
- Carne Salata – a fresh rocket salad with cured Black Angus beef, aged balsamic vinegar and parmesan
- Tuscan gnudi with parmesan, sage and noisette butter
- Pappardelle con ragu di coda di bue – fresh pasta with slow cooked oxtail ragu and red wine.
If you like what you eat here, you can also grab food to take home as there'll be an Italian deli on site selling all sorts of seasonal produce. In addition, a cold counter will feature homemade pastries in the morning; cakes, charcuterie and cheeses in the afternoon. And to drink there'll be a mix of local and Italian craft beers plus an all–Italian wine list to go alongside the food or just to have at the bar here. They're even going to have a coffee van parked outside the hotel serving artisan coffee courtesy of Workshop Coffee.
