Rarely has news of a new restaurant let to such immediate disappointment. On hearing the words "Rollercoaster Restaurant" (after confirming that we hadn't time travelled to April 1st) we instantly had high hopes of food been delivered for eating ON a roller-coaster. Alas, hopes dashed.
Instead - the upcoming Rollercoaster Restaurant at Alton Towers has your meals delivered to you on a mini roller-coaster inside the restaurant. A 400m track is promised, will all manner of corkscrews and loop-the-loops, at speeds of 20km/h and then a big 26ft drop onto your table.
If you're wondering - like us - how your food is going to stay in an even slightly presentable state, it all looks like it's tightly packaged up before the ride to the table. And the only confirmed dish so far is an Eton Mess - so that you survive the journey. Otherwise fast-food is promised and a "premium evening menu" if you're staying at the resort (chops and chips going by the video).
We have to admit - we'd actually quite like to try this. And if you do too - you can book now on their website in advance of the 13 May opening. And here's a video of it in action.
