It seems that Stoke Newington is where it's all happening at the moment - with news of opening after opening reaching us. The latest quietly opened its doors a couple of weeks ago - Haunt on Stoke Newington Road.
It's an all-day restaurant, cafe and bar and the menu has some interesting sharing dishes:
- Salmon bonbon filled with prawns, Smoked Mackerel pate, Carpaccio of Home Smoked turbot and watercress
- Jacobs ladder with Celeriac puree, Veal croquettes with whole grain mustard mayonnaise, Saddle of Rabbit with Chicken mousse and carrot puree
- Pan fried mackerel with antiboise, Marinated king prawns in garlic and chili, Baby Monkfish with remesco sauce
Plus we like the sound of "Veal croquettes with wholegrain mustard mayonnaise" and "Marinated King prawns with Turkish bread".
On top of the food and drink in the kitchen, the downstairs bar seats over 100 and will be the new place to go for DJ gigs - plus more pursuits including swing dancing, 35mm film nights, life drawing and yoga.
Haunt is open now at 182 Stoke Newington Road, London N16 7UY. Find out more from them on Twitter @hauntlocal
