The chocolate houses of London's past may have been dens of debauchery and political intrigue, but a new one planned for Islington's Chapel Market will be an altogether more respectable place. Jaz & Jul’s Chocolate House is the first bricks and mortar spot for popular Broadway Market stallholders Jasmine Kershaw and Juliet Sampson.
The new cafe and shop will serve what the pair declare to be indulgent proper hot chocolate - made on site using ethically-sourced organic dark chocolate. There'll be 12 unique drinking chocolates to choose from which, made by combining organic dark chocolate shavings with fruit oils and spices. And each can be ordered with toppings of whipped coconut cream and handmade marshmallows (courtesy of Marshmallow Deli).
To run alongside the hot drinks menu there's a range of cocoa-related food - Rocky Road slices, brownies, chunky cookies, and a savoury Mexican-inspired chocolate black bean chilli.
If you want to grab and go, there'll be hot chocolate sets to take away and a lineup of bean-to-bar products by expert chocolate makers including Marou and Blanxart.
Downstairs there'll be space for private parties - with a window to the production kitchen and all those pools of melting chocolate. Yum.
Jaz & Jul’s Chocolate House officially opens on Friday 6th November 2015 at 1 Chapel Market (Penton Street end), London N1 9EZ. Opening hours will be Tuesday - Sunday: 10am - 6pm. Telephone 020 3583 4375 and keep up with their news on Twitter @jazandjuls
