Wazen neighbourhood Japanese to open in King's Cross

The slew of new and interesting restaurants opening up in King's Cross is set to continue with news that an authentic Japanese neighbourhood restaurant Wazen is opening there next month.

What's really important is who's in the kitchen and at Wazen that's head chef Toshimasa Tanahashi who heads to KX via 30 years spent in the kitchens of Japanese restaurants Matsuri in St James, Kyubi at the Arts Club in Mayfair and Kouzu in Belgravia.

The minimalist spot says it's going to be serving up food "you won’t find anywhere else in London". Kick your meal off here with some great sashimi, tempura, sushi rolls while main dishes might include:

  • Chicken kakinotane
  • Baby Chicken with nanban sauce
  • Stone bass with tomato ume and yuzu shio ponzu

Lunch, we're told, will be laid back with dishes ranging from £8 - £18 and a special Bento box set lunch offer. And there'll be plenty of sake available by the glass and carage too, including ‘kikizake’, a tasting flight of three unique and rare sake.

Wazen opens in mid-October 2015 at 2 Acton Street, London WC1X 9NA. Opening hours will be Lunch: Monday – Friday. 12-3.30pm. Dinner: Monday – Saturday 6pm-11pm To celebrate their opening, Wazen is offering guests a complimentary Kikizake sake tasting flight between Tuesday 29th September and Saturday 10th October 2015.
