Flora Indica has not one. but two cocktail bars alongside a restaurant that is aiming to have British/Indian food with a botanical influence.
The Head Chef, Sameer Taneja, has worked at Benares - he'll be looking to create Indian dishes "inspired by the sprawling orchards and gardens of India". Both a la carte and tasting menus are planned in the 70 seater lower ground restaurant and planned dishes include:
- Juniper & cardamom spiced Blythburgh free range pork chop
- Bramley apple curry & kutchumber
- Spiced Gressingham duck & orange gel, Shetland black potato, organic chickpeas & wheat puffs
- Sweet naan of Colston Bassett stilton, figs, quince jelly & fennel cress.
As for drinks - they'll have a number of botanical-inspired infusions too and beers made for them by Portobello brewery, a gin and punch bar, plenty of malt whiskies and there's a 30 seater cocktail bar on the ground floor too. That'll have its own bar menu of sharing dishes.
Flora Indica opens November 26 at 242 Old Brompton Road, London SW5 0DE and they'll be having a soft launch period too - you can find out more about that on their site.
