Great British Menu returns for 2015 with Marcus, Typing Room, Murano and Berners Tavern chefs in the running

Great British Menu returns with Marcus, Typing Room, Murano and Berners Tavern chefs in the running

It's always been a great showcase for some of the UKs top restaurants (and a close look at how the chefs work) and soon The Great British Menu is making a return to BBC, starting on BBC2 later in the summer. This year the chefs will be cooking a dinner to celebrate 100 years of the Women's Institute at Drapers Hall in London (hence the portait referencing that calendar). And in advance, they've just announced who's taking part.

As ever, they pick chefs from all over the country - not for the location of their restaurants - so here's the full list of who will be taking part (with the London restaurants highlighted too):

Scotland

South West

Wales:

Northern Ireland:

  • Chris McGowan, consultant chef
  • Danni Barry, Eipic
  • Ben Arnold, Home

North East:

North West:

London and South East:

Central

As for the chefs who are judging, they're made of Great British Menu "veterans" including: Sat Bains (Restaurant Sat Bains, Nottingham), Daniel Clifford (Midsummer House, Cambridge), Richard Corrigan (Corrigan’s Mayfair and Bentley’s Oyster Bar and Grill, London), Phil Howard (The Square, London), Tom Kerridge (The Hand & Flowers, Marlow), Marcus Wareing (Marcus, London), Michael Smith (The Three Chimneys, Isle of Skye).

We can only assume that Marcus Wareing will have to politely excuse himself from the London judging. As usual, Matthew Fort, Prue Leith and Oliver Peyton are running things, although hopefully they'll have more on when we see them next.
