Hot on the heels of their Hawker House winter residency, London’s nomadic night market, Street Feast returns to Lewisham this weekend (Friday 17th/ Saturday 18th April) for their second summer at Model Market.
In 2014, the team transformed this abandoned 1950’s market in South East London into a lively destination - bringing a range of street food traders south of the river, much to the delight of South Londoners.
This year Model Market is shaping to be even more popular with the addition of a micro diner selling Steak Frites and rooftop tequila bar playfully labelled the Lewisham High Line.
Every week the market will feature a rotating line-up of traders. Expect to see buttermilk fried chicken from Spit & Roast, steamed bao from Yum Bun, all manner of smoked meat from Smokestak, and brilliant burgers from Mother Flipper. We’re also liking the sound of newcomers Bill or Beak and The Beefsteaks who’ll be situated inside the newly built micro diner.
If you’re still hungry after all that there's frozen yoghurt and fruit ice creams available from Scoopsy Daisy and 'brownie kebabs' from locals SE Brownie Bar.
You’re never far from a drink at Street Feast and Model Market will feature a total of five bars. These include Rum Shack - a tiny tiki bar, Slushy Bar serving 'grown-up slushies’, Winyl bar - a record-shop-cum-wine-bar and the Lewisham High Line rooftop beer and tequila bar.
Model Market opens on 17/18 April and runs every Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 1am at 196 Lewisham High Street, Lewisham, SE13 6LS – nearest station Lewisham DLR. For updates, follow Street Feast on Instagram and Twitter @streetfeastldn
