Already popular in King's Cross and Blackfriars, Camino are about to open south of the river in Bankside, which has had a slowly improving restaurant scene over the past year.
As with the original Camino, the menu will have tapas and sharing platters and dishes prepared on a plancha grill. Dishes to expect include:
- Pulpo – pan-roasted whole octopus tentacle, purple potatoes, paprika and olive oil;
- Morcilla de Burgos – pan-fried black pudding and spicy alegría peppers;
- Arroz negro – black rice, cuttlefish, squid ink and alioli; charcuterie and
- Artisan cheeses – Idiazabal, Manchego, Ibores; and a
- Whole roasted Segovian style suckling pig, slow roasted with white wine, onions, garlic and herbs.
There will also be Spanish brunch at weekends and a jamon counter too. That will have acorn-fed Ibérico black pig ham from D.O.s Extremadura, Guijuelo, Pedroches and Huelva, cured for a minimum of 32 months. It'll be available to take away too.
As for drinks, expect Spanish craft beers, Madrid’s Mahou lager on draft and a Spanish wine list (which was Imbibe's Spanish Wine List of the Year 2014 at the original Camino).
