Fifty Chefs charity exhibition to open in Shoreditch

We have nothing but good things to say about an upcoming exhibition that hits Shoreditch next month. Fifty Chefs - The Hands That Feed London is a photographic project that's taken a decade to put together.

Photographer Katie Wilson says she was "fascinated by the scars worn with pride on the hands of the chefs I met. I began to wonder, who are the people who cook for London? Not only the famous faces, but the sous chefs and kitchen hands; the dishwashers and potato peelers."

The ensuing photographs cover everyone from the late Rose Gray of the River Cafe to relative newcomer Ollie Dabbous. Each subject was photographed on location, before briefings, or in moments between services. That's Laura Jackson from Hackney's Towpath Cafe featured above.

Proceeds from the sale of prints at the exhibition will be donated to London-based food charity, FareShare which distributes good food that would otherwise be wasted to over 8000 vulnerable Londoners and more than 75000 people nationwide.

Fifty Chefs - The Hands that Feed London runs from 3rd - 12th April 2015 at the Londonewcastle Project Space, 28 Redchurch Street, Shoreditch, E2. Entrance is free.
