Chiswick beer fans are in for a bit of a treat with the opening of The Italian job this month. The Italian craft beer gastropub will be taking over the old Pickwick’s Wine Bar in Devonshire Road beside La Trompette.
Behind the venture is the much-vaunted Italian micro-brewery Birrificio del Ducato, Marco Pucciotti who owns a number of restaurants, pubs and wine bars in Rome and Giuseppe Verdoni who's just been involved in the launch of Enoteca Rabezzana in Smithfield.
The pub will have on offer a choice of 12 rotating beers on draught (10 taps and 2 hand-pumps) beside a diverse bottled beer selection, as well as wine and spirits. The beer range draws from Italy’s craft beer scene, showcasing a variety of styles and provenances.
As for food, well as you might expect, there's a burger on the menu. More specifically, a Hop & Pork burger complete with guanciale, onion, habanero and beer reduction. There's also an Ancient Mariner cod burger with Islay whisky sauce and olive all’ascolana - which is described as an Italian version of scotch eggs with olives instead of eggs which is good enough for us. Oh and there's also "the best selection of charcuterie from Italy".
The Italian Job will open on 13 February 2015 at 13 Devonshire Road, W4 2EU. Opening times are Monday-Tuesday 5pm-11pm; Wednesday-Thursday 12pm-11pm; Friday-Saturday 12pm-11.30pm and Sunday 11am-11pm. Keep up with their news on Twitter @theitalianjobw4
