The returned McRib inspires others to follow suit...

Earlier this month, the much-loved McDonalds McRib made a return to London. We haven't yet had the chance to try it again (not sure whether we want to risk a chance we'll tarnish childhood memories) but it has inspired a couple of other rib sandwiches to enter the arena.

First up there's the MEATliquor RIBlicker (photo by Paul Winch Furness):

The RIBlicker

This is barbecued pork covered in BBQ sauce, topped with homemade sweet pickles, thinly chopped onions, all in a bun. And it's something that MEATliquor's Yianni Papoutsis has been playing with for a while: "Having worked on this on-and-off for the past three years, it's immensely satisfying to finally be able to get the RIBlicker on the menu". It's £9 and is available now at MEATliquor London MEATmarket in Covent Garden and MEATmission in Hoxton. Find out more from them @meatliquor.

Next up is the MacRib from Joe's Southern Kitchen:

The MacRib

This is a pork rib patty, pulled pork rib, sweet BBQ sauce, pickles, chopped onion in a soft white sub, served with BBQ mac n cheese. It's £10.95 and available from them now in Covent Garden. Find out more on @beercanchicken1

Of course, if you head over to your local McDonalds, the real McRib is now on for £2.69.
