North Londoners get a new Italian restaurant as Ballaro prepares to open on Haverstock Hill. Certainly the people behind it sound worth a punt - Chef Carmelo Carnivale is the former Head Chef at Novikov and comes via Semplice and Harry’s Bar while front of house will be run by Massimo Pascale who's previously been at Tramp.
Opening on the former site of The Haverstock on Haverstock Hill and named after the Palermo food market, the 60 cover restaurant is aiming to serve rustic, seasonal Mediterranean food with an emphasis on fine Sicilian ingredients and dishes. We've seen a sneak preview of the menu which includes dishes like Calfs tongue with braised endive, reduction of red Etna wine and whole nuts as well as Cavateddi semolina pasta with pheasant and porcini ragout cooked in Nerello Mascalese wine.
Ballaro opens officially on Monday 21 October at 154 Haverstock Hill, NW3 2AY. But it will be on soft launch with 50% off food from Monday 14th October. For more information go to www.ballaro.co.uk or follow them @ballaroNW3 and to book call 020 7586 1107.
