As if you didn't know it already, London's a real international hub when it comes to events discussing and celebrating food. Hard on the heels of The Lab in April, we can now reveal a second really interesting food festival coming your way, Toast.
Described as "a weekend-long celebration of food and ideas...to discuss and debate the big ideas behind what Londoners eat and drink", Toast will take place in Shoreditch at the Red Gallery from 1-2 June 2013.
The two day event features panel discussions, tastings, book signings, and - this bit sounds the best - an after party at Rotary Bar and Diner. There'll also be workshops on food photography and coffee tasting, urban foraging walks and a mini KERB workshop with street food entrepreneur, Petra Barran. Look out for a pop-up cookbook shop run by Daunt Books with a collection of international food magazines and - for sustenance - a coffee bar from Dunnefrankowski and food from Street Kitchen.
Confirmed speakers include food writer Fuchsia Dunlop, soon to be restaurateur Anissa Helou, food eventeers Bompas & Parr, Pitt Cue Co's Tom Adams, writer Nicholas Lander and Henry Dimbleby of Leon restaurants.
Best of all, the whole thing is a fundraiser for our charity of choice Action Against Hunger. Until the target of £3000 is raised, 100% of revenue from ticket sales will be donated to Action Against Hunger. After that 50% of revenue from ticket sales will be donated.
Tickets are now on sale at www.toastfestival.com. You can also follow them on Twitter @Toast_Festival.
