Diner des Grand Chefs comes to London's Billingsgate

dinergrandchefsIf you happen to find yourself at Old Billingsgate Market on April 22nd this year, you’re either, a) one of the finest chefs in the world, or b) one of six hundred lucky attendees at Relais and Châteaux’s annual Dîner des Grand Chefs.

After previous events at Versailles in 2011 and New York in 2012, it’s now London’s turn to host the gastronomic extravaganza. The theme for this latest stop on their world tour will be “The World’s Kitchen by the Thames”, in celebration of the diversity and quality of British produce.

Forty-five of Relais’ Grand Chefs from all around the world will be taking part, with Raymond Blanc, Claude Bosi and Andrew Fairlie heading up the UK contingent. On the night, the chefs will work in teams of three to produce a unique three-course menu for one of the tables at the gala dinner. As if having dinner cooked by your very own all-star team wasn’t special enough, all the food will be prepared right in front of guests, adding a theatrical twist to proceedings. Each menu will be paired with a fine vintage Pommery Champagne, which should round things off nicely.

As you might imagine, the evening doesn’t come cheap at £650 a head, but all proceeds will go to this year’s chosen charity, Action Against Hunger. So if you happen to have that sort of cash, we can't think of a better cause.
