Assiette Anglaise opens on Islington's Liverpool Road

assiette anglaise islingtonAlthough a stream of new gastropub openings have recently revitalised eating out in Islington, decent restaurants are still relatively few and far between. Which makes the opening of Assiette Anglaise tomorrow all the more exciting.

This new all-day dining restaurant is taking over the space that used to be Morgan M on Liverpool Road, and they have some serious credentials to recommend them.

The Head Chef is Elton Inglis, formerly of Petrus and Racine. He'll be cooking seasonal dishes based on French brasserie classics. So you can expect steak tartare with homemade brioche, lobster with artichoke salad and roasted garlic aioli and assiette of duck with white bean, bacon & russet apples on the menu. They'll also have a traditional Assiette Anglaise (meats and pickles platter) on offer all day.

The restaurant will seat 52 and sounds like it's had quite a reveamp with a dramatic quartzite central bar and stainless steel suspended gantry installed. Breakfast will be served everyday from 8am (there'll also be an all day brunch Saturday and Sunday from 9am) with Monmouth coffee providing the necessary caffeine fix.

During the week they'll have a lunchtime prix fixe with two courses for £12, an afternoon tea menu and there'll be a Sunday roast at weekends.

On the drinks front, they're apparently natural wine buffs so the majority of their list is made up of wine sourced from small growers who are working sustainable or bio-dynamically.

Assiette Anglaise, is at 489 Liverpool Road, Islington, London, N7 8NS is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner; closed Sunday evening. They're running a soft launch promotion: Friday 31st August to Sunday 2nd September with 50% off food on the dinner menu. To book, call 020 7609 0300.
