We know his fans are legion, so the news that José Pizarro is heading into town for his first residency in the bar at Atul Kochhar's Benares on Berkeley Square should please plenty of people. He'll be in Mayfair for a week, running from 17-22 September.
Dishes on the bar menu will include some of José's classics - grilled Prawns with Chilli, Manchego Fig & Almond Salad, and Barbecued Lamb Cutlets with honey, mustard and rosemary, served with an aioli dip. These will be paired with Atul's dishes - sweet & Sour Fried Squid and Tandoori Stuffed Paneer. In total there are 6 tasting dishes by José and 3 dishes by Atul. Diners can choose three dishes for £21.
It wouldn't be a proper bar menu without a special drink to accompany it so José has worked with Atul’s bar team to create a sort of ‘Indian Summer’ themed Sangria featuring Star Anise, Cinnamon, Jerez sherry and Domaine Du Grand Mayne 2007 merlot.
To book go to www.benaresrestaurant.com and note that on the 17th September José himself will be in the bar with Atul.
