Thatched House in Hammersmith launch their new look menu

thatched house hammersmithWe've already picked The Ship out as one of the must-visit London gastropubs in our London Visitor's Guide. Which makes the reopening of the Thatched House in Hammersmith by the foodies' favourite landlord Oisin Rogers particularly noteworthy.

The Thatched House launch their new look and redesigned food menu this Thursday (12 July 2012). We've taken a look (although not tried it yet) and it does read well. There's small plate bar food in the form of anchovy soda bread toast (genius idea); a signature scotch egg made with Cotswold Legbar egg and free range pork or a plate of Sipsmith Sloe Gin cured salmon to line your stomach with.

Sarnies include schnitzel with sweet mustard and pickle, fish finger on sourdough with tartare sauce and they're upping the ante by proclaiming their burger to be "an incredibly well-executed burger to rival that of any found in town". That's fighting talk.

Drinks-wise, the pub's taking full advantage of being so close to the Sipsmith Distillery in the road behind them - not only are they using the gin to cure their salmon, but they're also offering a Sipsmith Summer Cup – with infusions of lemon verbena, tea and cucumber. There's also a chilled Sambrook’s Thatched House Pale Ale which is exclusive to the pub.
