He's been in London now for a few weeks and now Australian chef Greg Malouf, who's taken over from Skye Gyngell at Michelin-starred restaurant Petersham Nurseries Cafe, has unveiled some of his first dishes for the menu at Petersham. As you might expect, they combine local, highly seasonal produce with Middle Eastern elements which is what he became known for when he ran MoMo restaurant in Melbourne.
"I feel privileged to have been invited to Petersham Nurseries Cafe," says Greg. "I’ve been in my element exploring all the fantastic British and European produce – not to mention the herbs, vegetables and flowers that are grown right here in the grounds."
So, we hear that dishes he'll be serving up include his signature Duck Bistayeea with Almonds and Sweet Spices. This week's menu also features Grilled Poussin with Persian Spices, Winter Tomatoes, Honeyed Shallots & Bhatura and the rather heavenly sounding Beef Fillet with Borlotti Beans, Pease Pudding & Goat’s Curd. On the dessert front there'll be Lemon Posset Pavlova with Labneh and Crushed Raspberries; Creme Fraiche Ice Cream with Pine Nut Praline and Fig Ma’amoula Biscuits or Rich Chocolate Tart with Rose Turkish Delight.
Petersham is open for lunch Tuesday to Sunday. Bookings are available from 12pm – 2.45pm and from Tuesday to Friday the a la carte menu will be accompanied by a shorter set lunch (£24.50 for two course, £28.50 for three).
