Anyone who watched this week's Great British Menu will know that sea buckthorn is one of those 'challenging' ingredients. So it's particularly interesting to find it on a breakfast menu. The menu in question is the brand-new breakfast menu at Hix Soho which will start opening for breakfast from Monday 16th April.
Head Chef Kevin Gratton is behind the all British breakfast menu which the Soho restaurant will be serving up from 7am to 11am Monday to Friday. The addition of free wifi is a bonus and bound to make it a good morning meeting spot. Sea buckthorn appears twice on the menu - first in the granola with Neal's Yard Dairy yogurt (£5.50) and then as a drink - sea buckthorn, grapefruit and orange juice (£4.00).
You can stick with a range of pastries or if you'd like a proper breakfast there's Eggs Benedict or de Beauvoir (with Hix London cure smoked salmon) and alternatively create your own full English with all the usual suspects as well as fried marmalade tomatoes, crumpets, Londoner squasage or devilled lamb's kidneys. If you don't have to head to the office afterwards, throw in a pitcher of Bloody Mary for £18.25.
